We are looking for an experienced, practical and genuinely hands-on Chief Engineer to join a busy 50m charter motor yacht on a 2:2 rotation. The ideal candidate will hold a Y3 qualification or above, with proven engineering experience onboard similar-sized vessels. We are looking for someone who takes real pride in their work, enjoys troubleshooting and fixing things, and is happy to get their hands dirty rather than simply manage from behind a desk. Previous charter experience would be highly advantageous.
The successful candidate will take full responsibility for the safe and efficient operation of the engineering department, including preventative maintenance, fault finding, repairs, technical systems and general engineering operations. You will work alongside the existing rotational Chief Engineer, establishing a strong and reliable long-term partnership. The yacht has recently completed an extensive Alaskan season and is preparing for a busy yard period in Washington State, followed by cruising in Central America and Alaska for Summer 2027. We are looking for someone who is proactive, technically capable and confident taking ownership of the department within a fast-paced charter environment.
We are looking for someone with a positive attitude, strong work ethic and genuine team mentality who will contribute to a happy and harmonious onboard environment. The ideal candidate will be professional, approachable and calm under pressure, with a practical, solutions-focused mindset. Attitude is everything, and we are looking for someone who takes their responsibilities seriously, enjoys being part of a great crew and is committed to maintaining the vessel to exceptionally high standards.
